Community background

A resident invested in the place he calls home.

Karl and his wife, Stacey, moved to the Upper Kittitas County area with their three daughters in early 2019. They later moved to Roslyn, where they renovated a circa-1888 home and became full-time residents.

In January 2021, Karl and Stacey started WeHeartCleElumRoslyn, SPC as a social-purpose community project. The goal is straightforward: encourage candid local conversation, make useful civic information easier to find, and share the stories and issues shaping Cle Elum, Roslyn, Ronald, South Cle Elum, Suncadia, and the surrounding area.

Karl's community interests include responsible growth, transparent local government, strong schools and businesses, preservation of local identity, and finding practical ways for longtime and newer residents to participate in the region's future.

How WHCER works

Our editorial principles.

Independent of the parties, accountable to the evidence. WeHeartCleElumRoslyn, SPC is a resident-led community project, not an official city or county publication. It does not speak on behalf of developers, creditors, public officials, retailers, or other parties discussed on this site.

  • Distinguish fact from interpretation. We identify public records and other sources, reported statements, preliminary estimates, illustrative financial scenarios, and personal opinion rather than treating them as interchangeable.
  • Disclose relevant involvement. Where the author has previously facilitated discussions, communicated with interested parties, or holds related business or intellectual-property interests, we disclose that context alongside the material. Access to a party is not endorsement of its position.
  • Apply consistent scrutiny. Claims of public benefit, fiscal return, community costs, and legal consequences should be assessed by the same standards regardless of the project sponsor or the author's prior views.
  • Preserve history and correct openly. Dated historical commentary remains part of the record. New court decisions, additional evidence, and factual corrections are addressed with distinguishable updates rather than silent rewriting of earlier opinions.
  • Welcome informed disagreement. Residents, businesses, officials, and other interested people are invited to share verifiable facts and alternative perspectives, while protecting private correspondence and confidential information.

For issue-specific context, see the City Heights and bankruptcy disclosure and the data-center research disclosure. To flag a factual error, please email the specific passage and supporting source.
